David Hinkle first got his start in the gaming industry as a reviewer for a small time website in early 2004. After getting tired of little pay and the lack of recognition for his hard work, David sought employment elsewhere, eventually landing a job with Weblogs Inc. in March of 2005.

In October of 2006, David left his day job working for an Air Conditioning company in Florida to blog full-time. He is still trying to convince friends and family that he actually has a job and doesn't just sit around the house all day in his underwear.

Surprisingly rare and expensive GameCube games

We love a lot of GameCube games. In fact, when Play on Wii was announced, it felt like a dream come true. See, we imagine many GameCube games being retooled for Wii. Now, we're glad its actually happening for some of those games.

But, not all titles are destined to get that touch of Wii magic. And, what if you never had a chance to try some of them? Well, unless you've got a suitcase buried in the back yard, there are a few titles that might be a bit out of reach, according to the list over at Video Game Price Charts.

Of all of them, which would you say is the "must own" title?

Super Famicom Classic Controller available at Play Asia [update]

Update: Wow, that was fast. The controller is sold out. Uh, people must have way more money than we do. Send us one, plz?

If you're looking for more of an authentic experience when playing those Virtual Console games, then know that Play Asia is now allowing folks to order the Super Famicom Classic Controller. Of course, if you want that authentic experience, you're going to have to pay for it. The controller is going for a whopping $70 at the site. Frankly, we'd advise tracking down a SNES controller and doing one of those wireless hacks to the thing. It's got to cost a lot less than seventy freakin' dollars.

NRDC: Wii is greenest console of them all

The NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) recently decided to put all of this generation's consoles through their paces and see which console reigns supreme in the eco-friendly department. As we've heard in the past, the Wii has pretty much dominated all of the competition in each field of study. When looking at power consumption, the Wii only uses 16 watts, compared to the 119 watts of the Xbox 360 and 150 watts of the PS3.

The full NRDC study can be seen here. Warning: it's pretty much all in pdf format.

Resellers taking advantage of World Tour shortages

It's not so hard to believe, really. People have been doing it for many years now, since the Tickle Me Elmo dolls became so popular, really. Folks did it the last two years with the Wii and now, with the news that Guitar Hero: World Tour's full band kit bundle could be kind of scarce during the holidays, folks are taking advantage yet again.

"In order to assess continued demand for the title, we conducted proprietary channel checks both at major online retailers and at bricks-and-mortar retail locations across the country," said analysts at Cowen and Company, adding: "resellers on Amazon.com are pricing the band kit at close to USD 300, well above the USD 189 list price." Wow, that's quite the significant increase. While not as severe as it is on Amazon, eBay users are also selling the full band kit at higher prices than it should.

Remember, holiday shoppers: get out there early and get out there often. If you're trying to track down one of the full band kits for Guitar Hero: World Tour, then we'd suggest you get on a first name basis with the store managers in your area.

Man conducts symphony with Balance Board and Wiimote

Paul Henry Smith is one smart dude. He has created the Fauxharmonic Orchestra, a simulation of a real orchestra, brought to you by the Wiimote, Balance Board, and his brain. We're not classical buffs by any means, but what we're hearing (and seeing) is pretty impressive. We have on criticism, though. It looks like Paul is wearing his shoes in the video. Dude, you're going to scuff your very expensive peripheral!

Otherwise, kudos, Paul, on a job well done.

Nyko ups the ante, introduces the Quad charger

Click image for a closer look at the Quad Charger

Nyko is doubling the effectiveness of their previous charging dock, adding two more slots and two more NiMH rechargeable battery packs to the mix. Dubbed the Nyko Quad Charger, the new charging station will be available in North America next month, just in time for the holidays, and will cost you $49.99.

Hit up our gallery below for a closer look at the docking station.

We've spent some time with other Nyko gadgetry before. Just recently, we put the Wing wireless controller through its paces, as well as the Kama Wireless Nunchuck and the Perfect Shot. Don't forget about their Frontman guitar, either. And, please, take a minute to remember the dearly de-partied Party Station.

Chad Kroeger asks you to stop playing Guitar Hero

Nickelback's Chad Kroeger wants you to stop playing Guitar Hero and would much prefer you pick up a real instrument, he recently told MTV. "It's tough to find other bands out there, because either they're making a record, or they just got done touring," he said. "So kids: Start rock bands. Set down the 'Guitar Hero,' learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it's hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together, to get out there." You hear that, kids? If you don't play Guitar Hero, you can play real music with Nickelback! Personally, we'd rather play the game.

We'll admit the allure of Guitar Hero is probably greater than actually learning how to play guitar. Because the learning curve isn't as steep with the game, and with Guitar Hero including such a wide range of music (well, not all music) that is sure to please just about anybody, we can't say we're surprised that the kids would be looking to Activision's music game for their jollies.

Wii to get DiRTy in 2009

The sequel to 2007's gem of a racing game, DiRT, is going to be releasing on Wii, says Codemasters. What do we say? Yay! We're pumped!

The Wii version will release simultaneously with the other console ports of the game next year, and is to include a "tuned-up car-handling physics system" and "new damage engine effects." We're hoping the game will be solid on the Wii, as it could benefit from the Wiimote. Think Excite Truck, but better.

So, who's excited for DiRT 2 next year?

Wii Fanboy presents: Game Night [update 2]

Update: The staff is no longer in the Game Night chat. Thanks to everyone that showed up and if we missed you, see you next week!

With the release of Animal Crossing: City Folk this week, we're anxious to visit your towns and hang out! Of course, we're not just playing that, as there's a large catalog of online-compatible games on the DS and Wii to choose from. Won't you join us? It's very simple and you can find all of the info you need past the break.

Hope to see you there tonight! Oh, and seeing as how next week is Thanksgiving, you should know that we won't be holding Game Night then.

THQ and Activision kiss and make up

Well, not literally, but it would seem that THQ has thrown out its lawsuit against Activision over the boxart for Baja 1000: Score International. Activision has altered the boxart for their game (catch the image past the break), but, seeing as how the game has been available for a short while now, what of the copies that have already reached store shelves? THQ isn't too concerned about that, apparently.

Mama responds to PETA

Mama, lovable cook and Majesco mascot, wants us all to know that her latest game, Cooking Mama: World Kitchen, isn't all about killing animals and preparing them as tasty dishes. No, the Mama has a bunch of vegetarian recipes, as well, evidenced by the press release sent over to Go Nintendo. What kind of veggie dishes can be prepared in Cooking Mama: World Kitchen? Well, there's miso soup and rice cakes, just to name a few.

"I would never put rat in my Ratatouille," said Mama, wrist-deep in her latest recipe. "Like any accomplished cook, I create my recipes to appeal to a broad range of tastes and preferences. My only goal is to ensure you leave the table well fed." We imagine PETA's next step is a Flash game where Mama viciously murders piles and piles of Octopi for their ink so she can write out a press release.

Atsushi Inaba talks MadWorld inspirations, Wii

A lot of things come to mind when looking at screens or video from MadWorld. Its visual style has been compared to Sin City and Running Man, to name a few. So, is this where creator Atsushi Inaba got his inspiration for the game?

"Of course we like Sin City very much and we have seen Running Man before but they are not the sources of our creation," said Inaba. "The concepts of MadWorld are 'visual impact' and 'over-the-top violence,' and these two themes run right through the game." Inaba also says it hasn't been easy for his team to accomplish the game's stylish look and feel, commenting that "all team members are constantly working very hard to capture the style we want the final game to have."

When asked why Platinum Games settled on the Wii, Inaba pointed to the "huge install base" and said his team is "really interested in the Wii platform" and "wanted to create a really cool and stylish game for that." Frankly, we're glad. Not just because we, uh, want to play this, but also because we're tired of the Wii getting the "it's only for kiddies" label. We're awfully tired of that, to tell you the truth.

Roll does her thing in latest Tatsunoko vs. Capcom video

We're not going to lie: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom looks like the greatest thing since sliced bread. We're seriously in love with the game, even if we can't understand any of the weird Japanese squiggles that permeate the entire title. That won't stop us from importing the game, however. Because if there's one thing we've learned, it's that the movement for a dragon punch breaks all language barriers. That and we want more Joe in our life. Also, Roll takes out the trash.

Head past the break to check out the video of her doing just that.

Nintendo planning greater community features

It's not to say that the company hasn't been mindful of community features in the past. They've launched the Check Mii Out Channel, as well as the Everybody Votes Channel. Sure, they were flops, but it's good to know that Nintendo is at least trying. And Reggie wants us to know that Nintendo has some things coming down the pipe.

"Nintendo has always had a vision on community," he said. "The issue is that we define community differently than our competitors. ... Our consumers do want a sense of community, and we're going to deliver that--but in a way that is unique to Nintendo." Thanks for being so vague, Reg!

Regardless, it's good to know Nintendo is thinking about it. Stacked up against Xbox Live and, even worse, PSN, the Wii is lacking in some very necessary community features. Why don't you all take a guess? What do you think Nintendo has up its sleeve? Personally, we'd appreciate Virtual Console and WiiWare demos and maybe more online multiplayer.

Happy 2nd birthday, Wii!

That's right, boys and girls. Today is the 2nd birthday (we're going by North American release) for our beloved console, the Nintendo Wii. It's been a crazy ride so far, and next year is looking to be even better. We've had highs and lows, but, overall, we're still loving Nintendo's latest console.

What about you all? Did you see the Wii moving in this direction? Are you excited for the future? Bestow your birthday wishes in the comments below and let us know what you think!
